Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has announced his decision to boycott Cabinet meetings, stating that he will only return once the government prioritizes discussions on the increasing cases of abductions, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

Speaking in Mombasa during the launch of the State Parties Assessment Tool (SPAT) sensitization training at the Kenya School of Government, he disclosed that he had formally written to President William Ruto, requesting to sit out Cabinet sessions until the issue receives the urgent attention it deserves.

The CS has raised concerns over the Cabinet’s silence on the escalating human rights violations, warning that failure to address the issue could be perceived as tacit approval of the atrocities.

“If these matters remain unaddressed, the world may interpret it as the Cabinet endorsing these inhumane acts,” Muturi told journalists.

He emphasized the need for swift and decisive action to investigate and dismantle the networks responsible for the wave of enforced disappearances and killings.

Despite growing calls for his resignation over his firm stance, Muturi has made it clear that stepping down is not an option. Instead, he urged those defending the status quo to reconsider their position.

"I will not resign for speaking out against injustice. If anyone should leave office, it is those who are shielding these atrocities," he asserted.
